To our Customers
Don and I on behalf of A Quilting Place would like to thank you for supporting our business over the past 8 plus years. We appreciate all you have done in renting time on our long arm machines, in taking our classes, in purchasing Janome/APQS sewing machines, in trusting us to repair your machines, and in purchasing fabric and other items we brought into the shop.
In early November we received a phone call from a lady asking if we would consider selling our shop. Don and I have had conversations regarding selling the business because it was very important to me to sell versus liquidate and close the shop in the distant future. We are very committed to you who have taken our classes to rent longarm machines and want you to continue to have a place to finish your quilts. We decided to meet and discuss this person’s intentions to purchase the shop and had a fabulous first meeting. Even though selling now is much sooner than we anticipated we needed to consider the possibility. This woman’s passion for the art of quilting is great and we believe she is a wonderful fit to continue serving you our customers at A Quilting Place.
As of today Monday, January 28th, A Quilting place will be owned by Cathy Thayer. She has a longarm quilting business currently under the name Fabric Bash and will combine the two business together. Cathy enjoys quilting, teaching classes and making T-shirt quilts. Cathy will carry forward all current programs and classes that are established through our business except for the 1st Saturday Soup/Sew, Embroidery Camp or the Knot yet evening meeting. Cathy’s son-in-law Jake Whalen will be training with Don as well as become a certified tech for Janome and APQS to continue machine repair in the shop.
Cathy is excited to begin work with our existing customers and to train new customers. Cathy will be teaching the block of the month classes, host the Friday open sew days, assist the longarm machine renters and meet the small group members. Please introduce yourself to both Cathy and Jake and make them feel welcome.
Don and I will be around for a short time to help in the transition of ownership so you will still have an opportunity to visit with us. Don and I will continue to rent our retreat house under the business name of Retreat at the Creek. Jackie will host the February retreat at the Archdiocese Retreat and Conference Center as planned. We also plan to stay involved in the quilting community as participants in guilds, classes and retreats.
With heartfelt thanks.
Jackie and Don
